Beef and Broccoli Brown Rice Bowl & The Canadian Living Blogger Network

Some of you may have noticed the new badge on my site for The Canadian Living Blogger Network.  This is something I'm very excited about.  I was chosen to be part of this new blogger network.  Today I am doing my first post for them by recreating in my kitchen Canadian Living's recipe for Beef and Broccoli Brown Rice Bowl.  I was a little nervous before attempting this recipe as I have never cooked steak before.  Usually when I make a recipe that calls for steak I substitute pasanday which I believe are veal cutlets.

For this month's Secret Recipe Club I was assigned Fried Ice and Doughnut Holes written by Melissa.  I love the name of her blog.  The story behind it is her grandfather would tell them if they didn't behave they would get Fried Ice and Doughnut Holes for dinner...love it!  I should try that with my boys but knowing my luck they would probably claim that Timbits are doughnut holes and actually try to make me fry ice!

As I was browsing Melissa's blog I noticed we follow a lot of the same blogs.  I already regularly make two of the dishes that are currently on her blog.  They are Baked Southwestern Egg Rolls and Jalapeno Cheddar Burgers.  They are both great recipes.  I make the Jalapeno Cheddar Burgers quite often except I use 1 pound of chicken to intensify the flavours and a green chilli since I usually don't have jalapenos.  It is an amazing recipe and you should definitely give it a try.  The only reason I haven't posted it is because I just never have had a good opportunity to take a picture.

Baked Egg in a Bread Basket with Dempster's Zero {Giveaway}

Whenever I go grocery shopping and I am deciding on what to buy, the first items I look at in the Nutritional Facts are the Fat and Sugar content.  So I was very happy to see that Dempster's Zero has no added fat or sugar.  After tasting it I really couldn't tell the difference between Dempster's Zero and the other breads I have purchased in the past.  It is very soft and love that it is made of Whole Grain Wheat Flour.

Overnight Yeasted Waffles

Hasan's favourite breakfast is waffles but mornings are usually so rushed that there really is no time to be making waffles from scratch.  So when I saw these Overnight Yeasted Waffles over at my friend Henna's blog, My Ninja Naan, I knew I had to give them a try.  I loved the idea of preparing the batter the night before so the next morning it would be easy to whip them up to give to the boys.
